Grand Marais Family Kayaking Trips

Join us for a guided family kayaking trip in the Grand Marais, Minnesota area. We’ll take you and your seven-year-old and up children out of a kayaking trip on an inland lake near Grand Marais.

For the trip, we’ll use tandems and solos depending on your family. For younger children, tandems with the child up front and the parent in back make it easier for the child to paddle further. Kids really get and understand kayaking, so solos allow them to challenge themselves.

Coastal Kayaking Instruction

Instruction is essential for getting the most out of paddlesports. With instruction, you will have more fun, gain confidence, go futher, faster, with less effort. Beginners welcome!

Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the world and the best way to experience her many moods is by kayak camping. Our guided trips utilize the Lake Superior Water Trail to explore its rugged shoreline. They’re lead by some of the most experienced kayakers on the north shore.

Safety is Our Top Priority

Your safety is our top priority. Lake Superior’s water is cold, so we supply wetsuits and splash jackets to keep you warm. We also supply kayaks, spray skirts, life vests and paddles. On all our tours, we teach a short lesson to make sure you know how to get out of your kayak, maneuver and paddle efficiently. All our guides have Wilderness First Responder medical training and are American Canoe Association certified or have equivalent experience.

Comfortable and Stable Singles and Doubles

Our kayaks feel comfortable and stable. You can easily go straight when you want and turn quickly when you need to. The seats adjust to fit you correctly. We want you to have fun, so we selected kayaks to make that easy.

We use a combination of singles and tandem kayaks. If you want to feel the freedom of solo kayaking, ask for a single. If you want more stability, ask for a tandem.
